EGLISE SAINT-MARCEL D'ALERIA

CHURCH OF SAINT MARCEL. Recently restored, this church was always comparable to the church of La Canonica, in Lucciana. Its current aspect, from the XIX century, no longer has any traces of its original structure. Ancient stones were once again used in its edification, which is mentioned in an inscription that evokes Ambrosgiu d?Omessa, Bishop of Aleria in the XV century. A tableau of Saint-Marcel between the two martyrs (listed MH on 23/10/89). Recently restored, this work depicts from the XVII century depicts Saint-Marcel as Pope and as martyr, crowned with a tiara and blessing Santa Laurina. This work is attributed to Francesco Carli.
