MUSEE D'ARCHEOLOGIE J. CARCOPINO D'ALERIA
The museum exhibits all the remains discovered on the site of Aléria, and in particular objects from the Greek, Etruscan, Carthaginian and Roman periods. Ceramics, weapons, jewellery and utilitarian objects trace the life, economic activities and funerary concerns of the inhabitants of Aleria during antiquity. The museum is housed in Fort Matra, built by the Genoese between the 14th and 16th centuries to house a small cavalry detachment. Listed on 16/10/62 Opening hours: - From 16 May to 30 September: 10am-6pm daily - From 1 October to 15 May: 9am-5pm except Sundays. Closed on: 1 January, 1 May, 1 and 11 November and 24, 25 and 31 December. Visitors are no longer admitted 1/2 hour before the Museum closes.
